Impro Discovery – Learn to Improvise at Improvention

Learn to improvise, yourself, during Improvention. Here’s a great way to find out what it’s all about. “Impro Discovery” A workshop for any level, including complete beginner, or actors from other areas of theatre without specialised experience or confidence in improvisation. Concentrating on scenic theatre, rather than games, Mark will show you a way in to making improvisations tick. Was that the shuffle of feet? The dart of a person’s eyes? A pause before answering? Everything is an offer. So often, an impro scene can move so fast, we may miss the smallest queues that something else is actually going on. That’s where the scene is. From the very first offer, you have everything you need to tell your story. A workshop for all levels of improviser, Discovery will endow participants with the skills required to bring calm and control to their work. Drawing on elements of Meisner practice and the principles of clowning, practical exercises will be mixed with masterclass work to help each performer create a scene with this simple ideal: Discover, rather than invent. WHERE: PASH – Suite 301, 20 Allara St, CIVIC WHEN: 10:00am-1:00pm on Saturday 19 July, 2014 BOOKINGS: http://impro.com.au/impro-classes/workshops/ to secure your place immediately (workshop only) or email Nick on admin@impro.com.au About Mark Gambino An improvisation specialist from Melbourne, Mark Gambino is a nationally respected teacher, performer and show director. Special guest update

Introducing our international feature guest for 2014; ladies and gentleman, Mr David Razowsky .  In a CV to exhaustive to FB (but you can check it online), David was a creative consultant for Whose Line Is It Anyway, and has appeared on screen in titles as diverse as The Young & the Restless, Spin City, The David Letterman Show, ad Roseanne. Second City Hollywood’s former Artistic Director, has a very simple approach to strong impro scenes: Your presence is the only thing you need to create compelling, smart, truthful, and surprising scenes. Period. No games, no preconceived premises, no ideas, no ego. Just now matters. It’s what has inspired many to call him an “impro guru.” Your level of experience doesn’t matter. All you need to bring to Razowsky’s workshops is your present presence. All you’ll leave with is your joy.  Due to time commitments, Canberra’s Improvention is the ONLY place you’ll be able to workshop with David, on this visit to Australia, so come on over, get in some great scene-work, and network to get him back!! Check...
